Afrinova is excited to announce the return of HeritageConcept to Basel, Switzerland, from June 11 to 17, 2024.
HeritageConcept24 invites artists, enthusiasts, and cultural connoisseurs to explore Africa’s rich artistic heritage through a group exhibition, art archival tours, and workshops during ArtBasel week.
HeritageConcept program, is a week-long dynamic initiative organised by Basel-based contemporary art platform Afrinova, in collaboration with community organisation Verein AfroBasel, Think tank and agency Afrokaana, and design company Intersect Studios.
HeritageConcept is more than just an annual creative program, but we tap into the interconnected culture of creativity, community and heritage. We offer an experience uniquely positioned at the intersection of an evolving community, creative industry and global dialogue.
Following our first event in 2023, we are excited to bring the second edition to Basel, Switzerland, in June 2024. This event aims to unite a diverse network of local and international partners, forging connections to address the global imperative for sustainable art and diverse cultural ecosystems.
We invite audiences to experience contemporary African art and culture in a new way that is engaging, collaborative and informative. Centered around our group exhibition titled [W]Here Now, HeritageConcept24 artistically reflects on the role of water across cultural and contemporary contexts.
As a vessel of our collective stories, we delve into this concept across our curated programming to share multiple perspectives of the African and diasporic experience.
Our unique programming brings together numerous communities like artists, practitioners and local audiences, to create innovative experiences that point to the democracy within arts & culture by making them more accessible, interactive, and collaborative.
Some of our key collaborations for 2024 include The Nubuke Foundation, Museum der Kulturen Basel, and Basler Afrika Bibliographien, to not only bridge creative worlds but also establish a platform for discovery, exchange, and dialogue.
It promises so many insightful identity-shaping events to which everyone is cordially invited.
