Miami, FL – January 2025 – Black History Month 2025 offers a profound moment to honor the indomitable spirit and resilience of Black people worldwide. In recognition of this, CADA (Contemporary African Diaspora Art) and Similien Art proudly present Relentless Resilience: Black Art in the Face of Adversity, a powerful exhibition that showcases the creativity, beauty, and perseverance of Black artists who continue to redefine contemporary art.
Curated by Ludlow E. Bailey, Managing Director of CADA (www.cada.us), and Ronel Similien, President of Similien Art (@similienronel on Instagram), this exhibition brings together a dynamic selection of artists whose works bear witness to survival, resistance, and triumph. The exhibition will feature an extraordinary lineup of artists, including Haitian artists Morel Doucet, Stephen Arboite, and Mark Fleuridor; African American artists Amani Lewis, Maxwell Pearce, Jamel Robinson, Chris Wilson, and Jewel Ham; Congolese artist Bayunga Kialeuka; French Caribbean artist Marielle Plaisir; Nigerian artists Ibe Ananaba and Olumide Oresegun; and Cuban artist Alex Arrechea.
Black art, deeply rooted in history, identity, and lived experiences, has become one of the fastest-growing sectors in today’s art market. Artists of African descent are at the forefront of leading art fairs and continue to influence global contemporary art trends. Their work serves as a powerful synthesis of passion, pain, and resistance against the enduring impact of systemic marginalization and inequality.
Each artist featured in Relentless Resilience exemplifies an unwavering commitment to honoring the beauty, strength, and dignity of the Black experience. Their creations transcend aesthetics, offering profound narratives of history, struggle, and triumph. This exhibition is more than a celebration of cultural legacy, it is a beacon of inspiration for future generations and a call to recognize the power of art in the face of adversity.
