The Permanent Forum on People of African Descent (PFPAD) will host a webinar on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3PM UTC.

The webinar, which is also an official side event of the International Civil Society Working Group (ICSWG)’s session is titled “From Crisis to Action: Tackling Sexual Violence in War-Torn Regions.”

Discussions will look to provide critical solution-driven focus on the ongoing crises in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, and Cameroon—where rape and sexual violence have been used as weapons of war.

Also on the table will be the role of local communities in breaking the cycle of violence, tools that can be used, and the importance of healing and rebuilding lives.

The webinar will be hosted by PFPAD Women’s Group Leaders Dr. Marie E. Lemy, Ph.D, MPH, Queen Nina Womack, and Crista Noel; with a stellar line up of speakers including Dr. Lavinia Masters—USA, Rosy Auguste Ducena—Haiti, Annie Matundu Mbazi—DRC, Edward Huffine—USA, and Dr. Iman Ahmed—Sudan.

The Permanent Forum on People of African Descent (PFPAD) is a United Nations body focused on the issues and rights of people of African descent. Register to participate HERE.
