Dedicated to the beautiful Intentional Mother

“Behind every successful mother is a sea of other supportive mothers” – Monique Russell.

“Motherhood is life. Motherhood brings about continuity of generations. Motherhood is a precious gift; and a lifelong learning curve.”

These are just a few examples of the many ways in which we can describe motherhood, and I am sure you will have a lot more to add whether you are a mother, have/had a mother or even a father considering the unmatched role of mothers in the lives of everyone.

It is therefore welcoming to see our phenomenal diaspora woman – Monique Russell, share her lessons and experiences on her motherhood journey with the world.

Monique has extensive experience as a mom, wife and communications expert which she wants to share with women and men for the advancement of families.

Throughout the chapters of the book, one of the themes that run through is the importance of mothers in healing themselves: from the past, wounds and traumas; of which if they do will ultimately lead to healing in families, eventually spreading to communities.

“Intentional Motherhood: Who Said It Would Be Easy” also highlights motherhood being an identity derived from your mindset not age (even though not recommended for children), pointing out that more often than not, age has got nothing to do with wisdom or naivete in relation to intentional motherhood. Women and mothers should therefore be defined by who they intentionally want to be, instead of bowing to societal pressures to fit into a box. There is there is no perfect (perfection does not exist) timing for intentional motherhood per se and so as women, “we learn who we are while in motion, and not necessarily stuck in sequence.”

To quote directly from the book again, “when a woman births into a mother’s role, she can mother a child who is not hers biologically”.

Monique adds a special bonus, giving us a rare preview into her own family life while growing up in the Caribbean; and also adds reflective DIY segments she calls “Coachable Moments.” As a woman of faith, she uses scriptures to bring home some of her points.

I wouldn’t want to create any ‘spoilers’, but I can assure you of a good and insightful read. Kindly get your copy of Intentional Motherhood: Who Said It Would Be Easy” from here.
