A Monthly Inspirational Viewpoint of Life’s Journeys with Sonia Wignall.

Episode Fourty Two

Living in the light of gratitude

One of the women in our group’s, husband, suffered a massive brain bleed. I kept in touch with her and always asked how he was doing. One day after giving me an update on him, (therapies, visiting another country with him, etc), she added his recovery will be a long slow process, but “we will take the win”. Those five words still resonate with me today. Her statement of appreciation for her husband’s small steps in recovery were powerful.

It keeps her mind, soul and spirit in a position of grace and mercy for beautiful things to come..

How often do we have small victories along the path to bigger things and we fail to acknowledge the small and say “thank you”. Gratitude for even the smallest of blessings positions our heart for greater abundance and peace while we are waiting.

Some children, after receiving a gift, begin to complain that they never get anything good. Or they complain that the gift was not big enough, or they wanted something different. As parents we are deeply disappointed to see them behave from such a spirit of ingratitude. We have taught them better. Yet again this is exactly how we as adults behave with our big Daddy God, We demand more, and remind him that whatever we have received from him so far is not enough.

Linda, one of the ladies on our early morning prayer line, always prays “Lord if you do nothing else for me you have done enough”. She is a wise, beautiful and grateful prayer warrior.

As we exit 2025, I say thank you God for all you have given me and the lessons learned. For 2026, I want gratitude to title my vision board.

I want to experience a year of thanks. A year in a state of mindfulness for all the people in this world who are in distress, experiencing severe loss, famine, and perpetual pain. Those that live amongst the rubble. Those with little to eat and unable to travel elsewhere. I want to be part of a group that stands in perpetual prayer believing God for their time of change to come.

Although my vision board is extensive and explicit in what I am believing God for, above all, I want to have a heart and perspective like my friend and “take the wins”.

For my brothers and sisters of various faiths and circumstances. We will keep you in our prayers always. We believe with you that one day soon your lives will have the opportunity for change. In the meantime, take the small wins. The very small victories and continue to believe God for the great miracle, the impossible that only he can provide. Grace to you all. Remember you are all so very much loved despite your circumstances. You are not alone!

Our God sees and hears your cries for help.

Hillsong; So Will I (100 Billion X) “God of creation There at the start before the beginning of time With no point of reference You spoke to the dark And fleshed out the wonder of light

And as You speak A hundred billion galaxies are born In the vapour of Your breath the planets form If the stars were made to worship so will I I can see Your heart in ev’rything You’ve made Ev’ry burning star a signal fire of grace If creation sings Your praises so will I”….. https://youtu.be/GfVd5x9W1Xc?si=OMJTVWay3xTO1Mwq
