The Global Diaspora Confederation (GDC) is delighted to announce the launch of its second Global Diaspora Week 2022 (GDWeek), taking place virtually between 11 and 17 December (GMT) and 12 and 18 December (New Zealand time).
The Global Diaspora Week is a week of major global activities facilitated by the GDC as stipulated by its constitution for Diaspora Organisations in the world to advocate, discuss, debate and make recommendations on subjects pertaining to diaspora and their supporting communities.
Seven days will see the discussion of seven flagship activities for Diaspora Organisations across six continents (Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, South America, North & Central America and Caribbean) that will help to shape the future of the sector globally.
There will be one consultation meeting for each continent where the GDC will present and listen to the Diaspora Organisation’s thoughts on the concept of the seven major activities; and these will culminate into the Global Diaspora Assembly at the end of the week.
The major activities will also aim to enable, engage and empower Diaspora Organisations to create greater impact together for their diaspora communities under the GDC’s 3V conditions that its work is focused on namely: Vital, Virtual and Visible.”
The purpose of GDWeek2022 is to “gather ideas and thoughts for the planning of seven flagship activities by the GDC for its future, which are: Academy, Coordination, Fair, Forum, Expo, Festival and Awards.”
Founded in July 2020, the Global Diaspora Confederation is the world’s largest diaspora-led civil society organisation that aims to unify, support, develop and promote Diaspora Organisations across the world to achieve peace, unity, and social and economic advancement for all.
The GDWeek 2022 hopes to provides more opportunities to achieve the ambitions of the Global Diaspora Assembly, via the sharing of edge-cutting ideas and thoughts; and how the seven activities can best support Diaspora Organisations in the years to come.
