This year’s London Migration Film Festival will kick off with a night of celebration and various live musical performances as it launches its 7th edition.
The event, taking place from November 24 to 30, 2022 will feature 7 days and 20 events fully packed with film, music, interactive panel discussions and workshops.
There will be live screenings of a number of fiction, short and documentary films focusing on the intersection of migration with themes such as climate emergency, integration, parenthood, race, gender, representation, and many more.
With the aim of portraying the diversity and humanity of migration, the film selections reflect the many forms in which migration takes place.
In line with this, each film screened will be followed by a Q & A session. Some of the thought-provoking films to be screened live include Semret, Freda, Queen of Glory, A Tale of Love and Desire, Overseas, El Sentir de las Montañas, Leaving to Remain, The Crossing, Wild Relatives, Borom Taxi, and The Future Tense.
The London Migration Film Festival has taken place each year since 2016 (except for 2020), and includes both films by established artists and directors, as well as films by lesser-known filmmakers who use new perspectives to analyse migration and refugee issues.
In order to raise the profile and provide a platform for migrant filmmakers, each film included was directed, produced and starred in by migrants.
Patrons who may not be able to make it to the event in person can access the free online programme, offered in collaboration with MUBI.
The London Migration Film Festival is brought to you by the Migration Collective – a group of dynamic and creative women based in London, each holding academic interest in, and personal experiences of migration.
