As part of the African Leadership Forum (ALF), UONGOZI Institute is inviting applications for its flagship Competition – open to all African citizens including the diaspora between the ages of 18 to 25 years.

The Youth Leadership Competition is organised as a component of the African Leadership Forum (ALF) to provide a space for the youth of Africa and the next generation of leaders in the region to contribute to important discussions on leadership and sustainable development.

Applicants would be required to write about their perspectives on leadership as it relates to a theme tied to the ALF, and the essays will be rigorously evaluated on the basis of originality, organisation, creativity, appropriateness to contest theme and the use of language. The winners will get the opportunity to participate in the ALF plenary session and receive their awards at a prize-giving ceremony on 23 February, 2023 – in the presence of distinguished delegates from the forum.

A grand prize of USD2,000 will be awarded to the overall winner, with a fully funded trip to Accra, Ghana.

Application deadline is 10 January 2023.

The Youth Leadership Competition was initiated in 2013, and has since seen seven competitions being organised.

Established in 2010 by the Government of Tanzania, UONGOZI Institute is dedicated to inspiring and equipping Tanzanian as well as African leaders to deliver inclusive and sustainable solutions for their nations and for Africa.
