The deadline has been extended for submission of Abstracts for the hybrid Summer Conference on “Exploring Intersections: Decolonization, Diaspora, and the African Food System”

Interested applicants have until April 15, 2024 to submit their abstracts in English or French.

The Interdisciplinary Conference is set to take place on the 2nd and 3rd of July, 2024 at the Africa Museum in Tervuren, Belgium.

The conference seeks to unravel the historical, cultural, and socio-economic dynamics that shaped the current state of African food systems and its impact on the continent’s development; considering the effects of colonization and the potentials that lie ahead.

Papers and presentations that will showcase the nuanced understanding of the multifaceted relationship between decolonization, diaspora, and the African food systems are most welcome.

The hybrid conference is an initiative of the Food Bridge vzw in partnership with Diaspofood ULB, Africa Museum Tervuren, Interdisciplinary Historical Food Studies Research Group (FOST) VUB, The New Global Order (TNGO), Alefa Diaspora, Ensign Global College Ghana, Institute of Strategic and Development Communication, Nassarawa State University Nigeria, and others.
