Shelter Mart is the appointed real estate agency for the Indonesian community in Ghana.

The wholly-owned Ghanaian company has been instrumental in providing residential and commercial properties for its clientele.

For eight years and counting, Shelter Mart has been providing real estate services and solutions in Ghana for people within and outside of the country.

Established in August 2013, the company is equipped to render property sales, rentals and management, land sales, as well as facilities management.

Shelter Mart offers a variety of options for diasporans who wish to build, rent or own properties in Ghana. They have a scheme where potential clients are assisted to purchase land, facilitate registrations and transfer of property.

In terms of construction, the company provides architectural designs based on the brief and requirements of clients – who do not need to pay for the total cost of the project in advance but rather in stages.

For people who have funds ready to purchase, Shelter Mart engages them in order to understand their preferences; provide options that can be verified by the clients’ representative in Ghana and then help them to conclude the transaction in the property acquisition process. In case they are not able to move in immediately after purchase, the company can manage the property by renting it out and paying the proceeds into a designated account, in addition to maintaining the building in a standardized form to avert deterioration.

Most diasporans are increasingly developing an appetite for owning properties in the outskirts of the country’s capital – Accra, and Shelter Mart has branches in different parts of Ghana to facilitate this. It has introduced the ‘Cottage Homes’ concept for expats where it sells its land in acres to provide enough housing space in a not-so busy area with good amenities.

Ebenezer Asare Amanquar, the CEO of Shelter Mart was born and raised in Ghana. He has been in the real estate sector for over 22 years and worked with world class property management firms in the country where he was in charge of major commercial facilities such as the Marina, Junction and Jubilee Malls. After establishing Shelter Mart, he went to South Africa to acquire further knowledge, and came back home to build his company.
